Lent 1

A few musical changes this week. The biggest one is that we will use Simplified Anglican Chant on Psalm 32. It's a pretty long Psalm, so everyone should have the hang of it before we get to the end. We will use the same Psalm Tone for all of Lent, so we will be pros by Easter!

We will also be using a lovely setting of the Sanctus by Kenneth Morrison, a retired UMC pastor.

For the Prelude this Sunday, the band will offer a "The Lord Is My Salvation" by Keith and Kristyn Getty. The Gettys, from Northern Ireland, occupy a unique space in the world of music today as preeminent modern hymn writers. In re-inventing the traditional hymn form, they have created a catalogue of songs teaching Christian doctrine and crossing the genres of traditional, classical, folk and contemporary composition which are sung the world over.

At the offertory, the choir will sing the Lenten hymn "Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days". The hymn tune is paired superbly with Gabriel Faure's haunting Pavane.
