Triduum

Maundy Thursday
The Trinity MadriGals will offer musical leadership at this service. We will sing a lovely text by Bishop William Walsham How, and set to music by George Bayley. The ladies will be accompanied by Klarc Slider on cello.

It is a thing most wonderful,
almost too wonderful to be,
that God's own Son should come from heaven,
and die to save a child like me.

And yet I know that it is true:
he chose a poor and humble lot,
and wept, and toiled, and mourned, and died,
for love of those who loved him not.

I sometimes think about the cross,
and shut my eyes, and try to see
the cruel nails and crown of thorns
and Jesus crucified for me.

But even could I see him die,
I could but see a little part
of that great love, which, like a fire,
is always burning in his heart.

It is most wonderful to know
his love for me so free and sure;
but 'tis more wonderful to see
my love for him so faint and poor.

And yet I want to love thee, Lord;
O light the flame within my heart,
and I will love thee more and more,
until I see thee as thou art.

At the offertory, the ladies will sing Mozart’s “Ave Verum”. Then at communion, we will sing a lovely arrangement of “Bread of the World” with ASL by Terri Simpson. Following that, we will introduce the congregation to a favorite of mine, “In Remembrance” by Ragan Courtney.

Good Friday
The noon service will be led by youth musicians, both vocally and instrumentally. The 7:00 service will be led by the Contemporary Music Group.

Easter Vigil
The Trinity Choir will lead at the Easter Vigil on Saturday evening. During the readings, we will sing a spirited arrangement of “Go Down, Moses”. The Trinity Ringers will be on hand to celebrate the announcement of Easter as we decorate the sanctuary with lilies and sing “Hail Thee, Festival Day”. There will be a few bells available, so if you would like to help toll a bell, please sit in the balcony!

At the offertory, the choir will sing the favorite, “With a Voice of Singing” by Martin Shaw. This anthem has been a staple of church choirs for almost 100 years!

With a voice of singing declare ye this, and let it be heard, Alleluia!
Utter it even unto the ends of the earth. The Lord hath delivered His people, Alleluia!
O be joyful in God, all ye lands.
O sing praises to the honor of His name, make His praise to be glorious.
With a voice of singing, declare ye this, and let it be heard, Alleluia!
